Surfing | Sustainable Living | Extraordinary Food - this is our credo.
With only ten beds and living by the rhythm of the ocean Salty Jackal is a small surf hostel offering a personal touch and a laid back Swakopmund experience. Mingle with fellow surfers and travelers, make some new friends and if you're lucky score the waves of your life at Skeleton Bay and beyond!
Salty Jackal Backpackers & Surfing is a family-owned business started in 2017. It is run by a small team, consisting of the amazingly friendly caretaker Anton, the odd travelling helper or two and the hostel's founder Oliver, who is hopelessly addicted to surfing, an engineer, loves to travel and cook and believes in a sustainable and peaceful future on planet earth - the backpackers allowing him to bring together these interests.
The house, situated in central Swakopmund and built in the 1960s by the founder's grand parents, was renovated in 2009 and blends together old-world style and quality with modern, comfortable yet simple living and is decorated to inspire surfing and quality food while also showcasing our breathtakingly beautiful Namibia.
